Color: Pale yellow
Nose: Green apples and tropical fruit
Taste: Crisp. Nice refreshing acidity. Pleasant citrus fruit that lingers on the long finish.
Summary: For a non-oaked Chardonnay, which typically are not my cup of tea, this Chardonnay was alright. I have found that many un-oaked Chardonnay’s in the $10 range, have a metallic citrus character which I don’t really care for. The Apaltagua Reserva has more roundness and a bit of minerality which I quite liked.
I paired this wine with crab salad and it was great, but I can see it would go well with with grilled or baked salmon. This chardonnay from Chile’s Casablanca valley makes for great seafood accompaniment.
