Carma 2008 Carmenere

by Boris at Chilean-Wine.com on September 23, 2010

Price: Around $8

Color: Deep Ruby Red

Nose: Dark cholate and brandied cherries

Taste: Based on the nose, I was expecting to put a liquor filled chocolate bon-bon in my mouth.  And it wasn’t.  But it was good.  Fruity with good balance.  Full bodied and dense.  Mouth filling with well defined tannins.  Smooth finish.

Summary: Hearty.  This is big tasting Carmenere.  Good accompaniment to beef dishes.  Though I had it with a tuna casserole and it was great, so it likes pastas too!   Very good value here.

Interesting play on the Carmenere name.  When will somebody come up with a Karma-Chameleon Carmenere?

Produced by Carma Vineyards out of Chile’s Colchagua Valley.  Rated at 14% alcohol.

Imported by Daqopa Brands.
