Tabali Reserva Especial 2010 Pinot Noir

Price: Around $17

Rating: ★★★★☆

Color: Intense dark ruby

Nose: Medium intensity with strawberries, black cherries and hints of violets

Taste: Dry, with medium body. Red fruit dominates with smooth tannin structure. Long finish.

Summary: Balanced, interesting nose, but not overly complex on the palate. At under $20, it is a good value Pinot Noir.

Product of Chile’s Limari Valley.

Casillero del Diablo 2009 Syrah

Price: Around $10

Rating: ★★★½☆

Color: Deep ruby – violet

Nose: Red and black cherries, spice, vanilla, and leather

Taste: Dry, with medium body. Red fruit dominates the palate with a nice smokiness. Smooth tannins with a silky finish.

Summary: I like the overall mouth feel of this Syrah. It’s a personal thing, but for me a lot of Syrah wines give me palate fatigue. This Syrah has nice fruit/weight that keeps me sipping.
