Color: Light goldish yellow
Nose: Tropical fruit
Taste: Crisp, nice acidity, and pleasant finish. All the earmarks of good Sauvignon Blanc.
Summary: Wait, what? The label reads Chardonnay “made from natural yeasts that yield greater depth and complexity”. I can tell you that the chemical interactions in the winemaking process here completely knocked the Chardonnay fruit flavor out of this wine. Also, the winemaker’s notes state that its been in oak for 10 months, I swear I cannot detect an ounce of oak here.
Don’t get me wrong, its a fine tasting wine, but if you’re looking for buttery, oaky, chardonnay, its not here. Treat it like a crispy Sauvignon Blanc and you’ll be fine.
