Marques de Casa Concha 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon

March 18, 2009

Price: $19.00

Color: Deep cherry red

Nose: A very nice complex set of scents. Berries, spiciness, and a hint of chocolate.

Taste: A very flavorful cab.  Nice body with tannins that linger nicely in your mouth.  Well balanced.   Chocolate and earthiness in the mouth with a smoooooooth finish.

Summary: This is a good wine to put in your cellar if you have one.  It will age nicely for a couple of years.  Get a few now and pop them open over the next two or three years.  If you can wait that long.

I drank two bottles of the 2008 at the “Lekaj Wine Gala” in West Bloomfield,MI with my cousin, Prenke (Takachi) Ivezaj. It was a real treat; after we allowed it to breath for about an hour in a decanter, we immersed ourselves in the wild berries that dominated our palates. The smooth finish made us gasp for more, and after we finished the second bottle, we immediately longed for another. This cab deserves to stand among the powerhouses of Napa Valley, especially with teh likes of Far Niente, Groth, Rubicon, and others. This may very well be the best bang for your buck/euro in premium wine experience. Gezuar!

You are absolutely correct in that it is a great bargain. A rich cab like this for under $20 is a great find. I’ve seen it for as low as $14! Big bang for your buck!
