Penalolen 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon

September 9, 2010

Price: Around $17

Color: Deep ruby red

Nose: Blackberries, vanilla and strawberry, very nice.

Taste: Round, with red fruit flavor.  Flavorful with all components in balance.  A silky long finish.

Summary: This Cab hails from Chile’s Maipo valley.  Where most of Chile’s best Cabs originate from.  With every Maipo cab I try, I find a similarity in the flavor department, a certain old-world vine, sandy soil, cold river irrigation feel to it that takes me back to those vineyards.   Hard to describe, you’ll just have to try alot of Chilean wine to know what I mean.
