Penalolen 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon

Price: Around $17

Color: Deep ruby red

Nose: Blackberries, vanilla and strawberry, very nice.

Taste: Round, with red fruit flavor. Flavorful with all components in balance. A silky long finish.

Summary: This Cab hails from Chile’s Maipo valley.  Where most of Chile’s best Cabs originate from. With every Maipo cab I try, I find a similarity in the flavor department, a certain old-world vine, sandy soil, cold river irrigation feel to it that takes me back to those vineyards.   Hard to describe, you’ll just have to try a lot of Chilean wine to know what I mean.
