Color: Pale Yellow
Nose: Green apples and citrus fruit
Taste: The mineral and citrus character of this wine are the first thing you’ll notice. In the mouth its very light to medium in density with a tangy finish. It has a nice fruit flavor. This will go great as an aperitif served with cheeses. The mineral and acidity of this wine will also pair nicely with a grilled salmon or sushi.
Summary: I am impressed with what Porta is doing with less common varietals such as this Pinot Gris and their Gewurtztraminer which I tasted last month. Both of these last two wines originate from Chile’s Bio Bio valley which is a valley that leans toward colder and wetter growing conditions. Porta seems to be making the best of this regions limitations and advantages.
