Puerto Viejo 2007 Carmenere

June 1, 2010

Price: Around $7

Color: Deep ruby red

Nose: Strawberries and cherries jump right out

Taste: Very nice tannins, present in the right amount.  Thin bodied with good fruit.  Oaky.   Mellow and smooth throughout.  Nice long finish.

Summary: I was surprised at the pleasantness of this wine.  I found that it had a nice Syrah fruit quality to it, though there is no Syrah in it.  Tasty, with good sweetness.  Yeah…pick it up.  I got this one at Jons for $7.
