Santa Ema 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon

January 6, 2009

Price: $5

Color: Dark red

Nose: The smell of black currants and blackberry.

Taste: Nice balanced taste with medium body.  Tilts to the acidic side but just enough.

Summary: A very good buy at this price.  Keep several of these laying around for yourself.  For important company bring out something a little nicer.  Aerate this wine for at least an hour before drinking.  It really benefits from the extra airing.

I really like thie wine and used to buy it from Trader Joe for many years. But, Trader Joe no longer carries this wine. Do you know where I can buy it online or Los Angeles?

Thanks!

Hi Szeming,
I know exactly what you’re talking about. I loved being able to pick up Santa Ema Cab and Merlot for around $4 from TJs. Real shame they discontinued it. Anyways, you can pick up the Santa Ema Reserve Cabernet and Santa Ema Reserve Merlot if you’re in the SF Valley for about $10 bucks. The Reserve is a notch above and a superb deal at $10.

Woodland Hills Wine Company has plenty on hand.
